Workshops
When you arrive in a new country, you often experience the bureaucratic requirements there as an impenetrable jungle. We offer an overview workshop on all the important questions so that you can land and move around safely:
- What are the special conditions of social insurance in Austria?
- What insurance options are there if I am self-employed or employed?
- What support does the Artists' Social Insurance Fund (KSVF) provide and how do I submit an application?
- What do I need to consider for tax purposes if I want to work as a self-employed artist in Austria?
- Are there any residence law issues?
- When do I need a work permit?
These and many other questions will be addressed in the workshop.
At the same time or in a second format, the workshop is also available for artists living and working in Austria, who want to work abroad:
- What do I need to consider in terms of insurance?
- How does the posting work with an A1 form?
- Do I need extra health insurance?
- In which case will I have to pay foreigner's withholding tax for my work?
- How do I submit my fee notes?
Many of you work in Austria and Germany.
Together with touring-artists Germany we are offering a special workshop format on this topic:
- To what extend do the social security systems differ?
- What do I need to bear in mind, when I want to work in Germany or Austria as freelancer or as an employee?
- How does a posting via A1 form work?
- When is there a non resident withholding tax due to my work?
- What do I bear in mind for tax purposes with cross-boarder fee notes?
You can find the information in our new guide (in German)

monthly meet up is an open (online) format that will take place regularly in 2025. If there is interest, monthly focal points on individual topics are offered.
Two new digital systems are planned at European level: the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), a registration system for third-country nationals who can enter the Schengen area without a visa, and the Electronic Entry/Exist System (EES). This is where all third-country nationals (those requiring a visa AND those not requiring a visa) are registered digitally. Exception: third-country nationals who have a residence permit in a Schengen state.
